"road rage"

http://www.mlive.com/news/chronicle/index.ssf?/base/news-6/1181659559266390.xml&coll=8

I saw this on another blog.

I thought about posting about this yesterday because I had numerous run ins with the motorists.

So, what does it all come down to? Answer: ignorant (dumbass) motorists. Believe it or not, the designers of this retarded megalopolis had the pedestrian and cyclist in mind. It's the dumb ass auto drivers who don't know the rules (same road, same rules, same rights) or who blatantly disregard the rules all together. One that really gripes my ass is stop signs... One is supposed to stop IN FRONT of the stop sign, not after it, blocking off the sidewalk for the peds and bikers. Note: the peds and bikers don't have stop signs. I wouldn't have to fear for my life every time I rode by a side street on the sidewalk if people would just stop at the stop sign. Of course, stop signs are just the tip of the ice burg...

It just goes to show how selfish people are. When you are driving in your Hummer and you blow around that corner because you are late for getting your nails done, you are PUTTING SOME ONE'S LIFE IN DANGER. But hey, I'd be mad too if I was late for my manicure.

Bloomer X.C.

results: http://www.tailwind.net/results/RESULTS-ALL-BLOOMER%20XC-061007.pdf

I had a great race at Bloomer today. The competition was about the same as it has been for each race so far, with Tanguy off the front and the usual suspects in a distant pursuit and Simonson still mostly absent from the scene.
The start felt very easy to me, but still I didn't attempt to lead the race or even be at the front. On the first lap I followed various riders all exchanging position and jumping around. Two chase groups formed at this point; the KLM/Bells guys and then me, Hermitman, and a newer rider Kyle/Cory? Stange only a few seconds back.
I was patient letting things cool off before dropping Hermitman and Stange on the sledding hill on the second lap. I caught up to Mike Anderson who seemed to be having back problems. He drafted me for an entire lap before I finally forced him to the lead on a flat section. All the while the KLM group was a safe distance ahead. I knew my laps were very consistent and would continue to be as such so I did not worry about them.
Coming into the last lap I had much left in reserve. I did this purposely in order to safely attack the KLM chase group. I whipped up the pace and dropped Mike. I was going strong, perhaps in pursuit of my fastest lap when suddenly I realized that my front tire was very low on air. I stopped to inspect and contemplated putting in a tube, but thought about how much time I would waste. The tire didn't hold air and I rode half of the last lap with 10 psi or something. Needless to say, I will be reverting back to Stan's.
Mike eventually went back by and I finished in 6th place, only 2.5 minutes from second place. When I finished, I was not very tired, which is indicative of two things. First, that I had to go slow on the last lap. Second, that my muscular endurance and recovery are at close to top levels, which is where they should be at this point. This is a very good indicator.

I feel like I haven't had good results to report so far this season. The first third of this season has been a disappointment to me and I feel like I have not yet shown results indicative of my potential. Someone even told me today that they heard I have been sick??? Well, the truth is, I am training well and am in good shape and I am still motivated. None of my goals (I have three for this season) have changed, and they are still attainable. Doing away with past misfortune, I will train like normal for the first performance peak of the season in July.

I'm not trying to turn my blog into some kind of social/political statement, but here's another blog worth reading.
